Divorce and Separation

Whether your marriage lasted five years or fifty, splitting up is never easy and the emotional impact of divorce is challenging enough without considering legal proceedings. Understanding your situation

When it comes to divorce and separation, understanding your legal position at an early stage is beneficial in resolving matters as quickly as possible. It also allows you to protect your interests, ensuring that you know your rights and responsibilities as a parent or partner and will therefore not enter into an agreement that does not meet your needs.

When you instruct one of our divorce solicitors, we will always explain your options with clarity, leaving the legal jargon behind to help you understand in plain English where you stand and which approach is right for you.

What to expect from your first meeting with us

We have put together some guidance to give you an idea about what to expect during the initial consultation appointment and the type of information we will ask for. It has been modelled on an appointment for a client who is considering or going through a divorce, but the general principles apply to all appointments. Click HERE to download.

Reaching agreement

If possible, our divorce solicitors will attempt to settle matters through alternative dispute resolution, saving you the financial and emotional costs of court. Whether this takes the form of constructive mediation sessions, negotiation between solicitors or a collaborative process involving all parties, this approach can be particularly useful to those looking to salvage a working relationship and end things amicably. If this is not possible, you can count on our team to provide comprehensive legal support and representation through your hearing, ensuring the outcome is fair and meets your needs.

Financial outcome

If it’s finances you’re concerned about, rest assured that our divorce solicitors will ensure that the outcome of your settlement accurately reflects your day-to-day requirements as well as those of your children and secures the right level of child maintenance. We are well-versed in this area of divorce securing fair financial settlements as well as complex cases.

5/5 Star review
wanted to express my sincere gratitude to the team at Neves especially Charlene Shillingford and her assistants , for their exceptional service during the purchase of my property. For me your service was above excellence . From the initial consultation to the final completion, they were incredibly professional, knowledgeable, responsive, and kept me informed every step of the way. The purchase was a complex case , but they have gone an extra mile and go above and beyond to get the completion over the deadline . I would highly recommend Neves .

I cannot recommend Emily from Neves high enough. I was recommended to her by 2 friends and she helped me go through the full Child Arrangement Order process. Emily explained things very clearly, told me what my options were and this ended up with me being able to see my children again. Not only this but she also helped me when I had a non-molestation order against me appear out of nowhere. Emily guided me through the whole process so well and helped me get the exact result that I was looking for. I strongly recommend Emily to anyone going through Family Court..!! Thank you Emily for everything..!!!!

I have just completed on the sale and purchase of houses. Neves have been my legal support through these processes and, frankly, I cannot fault them. Professional, supportive, friendly, super-efficient in every aspect. I was in excellent hands. The whole conveyancing team deserves recognition, but my special thanks go to Jackie McLaughlin and Charlene Shillingford who both went over and above to ensure my change of home was completed as efficiently and quickly as possible despite numerous challenges along the way. Thank you. Highly recommended
